Mind Full, Ness! Don't Care

Mindfulness.

When I first heard the word, my mind said “oh, the geniuses that may be have come up with more politically correct word…. Just like breaking down diagnosis’s to something more friendly”.

Did not think much more about than that, same old, same old.

Prologue

I stumbled upon spiritualism searching for solutions to breakup sleeplessness and my habit of never making good choices for myself.

Some strange alien on Youtube seemed to talk directly to my suffering that was causing all the problems.

In a way that cracked open a light that had been waiting for what seemed all my life.

I then read about the Stoics and Greek philosophers in the ancient cultures who broke everything down to its core to understand it as an ethical philosophy - including the human body.

I read more about Buddhism and ancient Chinese manuals for living, so old even the Chinese cannot translate.

I read more from the Californian spirituality in the 60’s.

I read more from Jungian psychology, a mystical version near Freud’s era that uses mythical like entities to reveal profound truths about human nature.

Chorus

Anyway, back to mindfulness. ET joked the actual word is counter intuitive to his teachings I thought that was very true.

Now I have read about pioneers of “Mindfulness” such as Thich Nhat Hahn and others from India… And they are, by more rights than anyone.

But I wonder what the actual word or phrase is in their native language.

Because to me, “mindfulness” falls into an institutionalized translation to be adopted in western culture.

And possibly a slight jab at that.

An American word. A Christian word. A “What the hell is all this? We just need to be kind to each other” word. A “don’t step in the shit” word. A disrespectful word.

Maybe I am wrong, and it definitely does not matter that much. Princess and the pea thing.
